Between the Limestone Giants

Ao Phang Nga belongs to the most visited national parks in Thailand. Many visitors usually come just for one day trip from the Phuket – the near island resort. Although Ao Phang Nga is a famous destination for tourists, there are still many beautiful hidden places, which was also the reason why I decided to go there. Ao Phang Nga is a marine national park where hundreds of sharp limestone formations raise from the sea. There are only few communities living there permanently, one of them is Koh Panyee. This place is often considered as a tourist trap, but I did not have this impression. Usually most of the tourists stay in the local restaurant and do not go deeper to the village. But taking a walk to the heart of village is the best way, how to understand the whole place.

Ratchaprapha dam is another limestone paradise with probably the most emerald water I have ever seen. This place is situated a little bit farther from the main crowded resorts and gives you a strong feel of a calm and peaceful land. I stayed overnight in a rafthouse – an amazing little bamboo house floating directly on the water. I was glad to have a roof above my head because late afternoon, an extremely strong rain came and I finally felt really fresh air after two weeks in hot Asia. Apart from that, I saw beautifully clear night sky with thousands of shining stars. This was the right moment to take the Little Prince and starting to read.

The third series of pictures were taken during sunset on the beach of the city Hua Hin. This famous beach is usually full of people but at the close of the day this place quickly turns empty. People are heading back to their home and hotels.
